More from City Councilmember Brad Lander on the additional pre-k classes for school district 15, in addition to yesterday's post:
The lottery for more than 100 new, full-day, pre-k seats at the
former Bishop Ford High School (in Windsor Terrace) has been
extended through Tuesday, September 2nd, in an effort
to accommodate more families.
The opportunity is
open to all families with eligible 4-year-olds who live in District
15 (you can see what district you are zoned for here).
You still have to apply in person, at P.S. 10 at 511 7th
Avenue (at 17th Street), 9 am - 3 pm weekdays (not including Labor
Day). The seats will be allocated by lottery (rather than
"first-come, first-served").
To apply, you need to come with your child, their birth
certificate, evidence of vaccination, and two proofs of address.
As we wrote yesterday, we're sorry for the last-minute nature
of the opportunity, but excited to see New York City moving steadily
toward truly universal pre-k, where all 4-year-olds will have the
chance to get started on their educational path.
