COMMUNITY CLEANUP OF OCEAN PARKWAY


Join local residents in cleaning up the block of Ocean Parkway between Ditmas Avenue and Cortelyou Road on Saturday, July 31st, from 10:00 a.m. to 11:30 a.m. Meet at the northwest corner of Ocean Parkway and Ditmas Avenue.
 
In case of rain, the clean-up will be canceled; a cancellation notice will be posted on The Kensington Stewards Facebook page.

FARMSTAND REOPENS IN KENSINGTON

Kensington Farmstand is open from 8:30 a.m. to 3:00 p.m. every Saturday from July 10th through November 20th.
 
Kensington Farmstand accepts cash, SNAP/EBT, debit/credit, WIC, and Senior FMNP coupons. 
 
Spend $2 in SNAP/EBT/P-EBT and get a bonus $2 Health Buck, up to $10 per day. 

Kensington Farmstand is part of a network of food access retail locations operated by non-profit GrowNYC. It provides a source of farm-fresh produce as well as employing young people, providing them with seasonal employment and valuable job experience.

Formerly named Kensington Youthmarket, it was located alongside the Windsor Terrace Library from 2011 through 2018. In 2019, when the library closed for renovations, the market moved to its location by Albemarle Playground.

ALTERNATE SIDE PARKING SUSPENDED FOR IDUL-ADHA (EID AL-ADHA)

 


Alternate side of the street parking (street cleaning) will be suspended from Monday, July 19th, through Wednesday, July 21st, for Idul-Adha (Eid Al-Adha).

Parking meter regulations are only suspended on these major legal holidays: New Years Day, Memorial Day, Independence Day, Labor Day, Thanksgiving, and Christmas.

SINGING WINDS OFFERS CHILDREN'S ACTIVITIES IN ALBEMARLE PLAYGROUND (FREE)

The Singing Winds returns to Albemarle Playground this summer with free children's activities for all ages. 
 
The program is offered on Tuesdays and Thursdays, from Tuesday, July 13th, through Thursday, August 12th, from 10:00 a.m. to noon.

  • Chess, Checkers, and Other Games,

LIBRARY REOPENING: WINDSOR TERRACE LIBRARY OPENING CELEBRATION

 

Windsor Terrace Library Opening Celebration
Monday, July 19th, 9:30 a.m. to 10:30 a.m.
 
After closing for much-needed repairs, Windsor Terrace Library will reopen on Monday, July 19th.

Join Windsor Terrace Library staff and special musical guests as the library reopens after an extensive HVAC replacement, an upgrade to the electrical systems, and an interior refresh.

Musical entertainment will begin at 9:30 a.m.; the official reopening ceremony will begin at 10:00 a.m.

Patrons can now place holds for pick-up at Windsor Terrace Library so they'll be waiting for you when the branch reopens. 
 
Starting on July 19th, the branch will be open on the following days and times:
  • Monday, Wednesday, and Friday: 10:00 a.m. to 6:00 p.m.
  • Tuesday: 1:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m.
  • Thursday: 10:00 a.m. to 8:00 p.m.
  • Saturday: 10:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m.

This week, in advance of the reopening, BPL's Bookmobile will provide service outside of Windsor Terrace Library. The Bookmobile will be available on Tuesday, July 13th, and Friday, July 16th, from 11:00 a.m. to 4:00 p.m.
