FREE BICYCLE HELMETS

Bicycle Helmet Giveaway
Sunday, September 17th, 2:00 p.m. to 5:30 p.m.

Bicycle helmets are going to be given away at 18th Avenue/Gravesend Park. The exact location is 18th Avenue and 56th Street.

The New York City Department of Transportation, along with New York City Councilmember David G. Greenfield, will give them away on Sunday, September 17th, between 2:00 p.m. and 5:30 p.m.

Helmets are available for children and for adults. Adults over the age of 18 who receive a helmet must sign a waiver. For a child under the age of 18 to get a helmet,
a parent or legal guardian must be present to sign the waiver.

Helmets will be available on a first-come, first-served basis while supplies last.

You must be present to get a helmet. Nobody will be allowed to pick up a helmet for someone else. Before it can be given to you, you will be shown how to properly fit and wear it.

In New York City, 74% of fatal crashes involved a head injury. 97% of the bicyclists who died were not wearing a helmet.
