CAVE-IN ON GREENWOOD AVE. WILL BE "ADDRESSED"

cave-in on Greenwood Avenue and E. 3rd Street

When I noticed this cave-in at Greenwood Avenue and E. 3rd Street two weeks ago, I reported it to 311 Online. Today, I heard back from them that "The City inspected the condition you reported and asked the Department of Environmental Protection to address the issue." I guess a hole in the street has to wait its turn.

A cave-in is a hole that has a deep void. It's usually caused by a problem with the underground infrastructure. Some of the pavement falls into a deep empty space that doesn't have a solid bottom.

The Department of Transportation inspects cave-ins that are reported to 311. If they determine that it's a problem, they send their report to the Department of Environmental Protection or another utility to make a repair.

A quick resolution will be appreciated before the cave-in gets any bigger.
