EFFORTS CONTINUE TO MAKE THE G TRAIN MORE RIDER-FRIENDLY

G Train Improvement Strategy Meeting
Monday, May 20th, 6:30 p.m.

The MTA agreed in February to conduct a full line review of the G train after riders, politicians, and grassroots transit advocate groups publicly protested the line's performance. At the end of June, the review will be made public.

The Riders Alliance took on the issue of improving G train service and has been working on it over several months. The group will meet tomorrow evening to talk about what needs to be done so the review accurately reflects G train riders' problems. The meeting is open to everyone.

Four changes the Riders Alliance is encouraging the MTA to implement are:
  • Add free out-of-system [above-ground] transfers to the J/M at Broadway and to the nine subway lines [2, 3, 4, 5, B, D, N, Q, R] at Atlantic Ave-Barclays Center from Fulton Street.
  • Increase train frequency at rush hours and late nights.
  • Improve communication with riders, especially when there are delays and service changes.
  • Reopen station exits that have been closed for decades.

Send an RSVP to the meeting on the Riders Alliance website. Snacks will be served.

Meeting Location:
UnionDocs
322 Union Avenue
four blocks from the Metropolitan Avenue G stop
