Gas rationing--the odd-even license plate system that was put into effect in New York City on Friday, November 9th--has been extended until Friday, November 23rd, the day after Thanksgiving. Thirty percent of the gas stations in New York City are still closed.
The system explained:
Drivers of vehicles with license plates ending in an even number or ‘zero’ can buy gas on even-numbered days.
Drivers of vehicles with license plates ending in an odd number can buy gas on odd-numbered days.
Drivers of vehicles with licenses plates ending in letters are considered to be odd-numbered plates and can make purchases on odd-numbered days.
Commercial vehicles, emergency vehicles, buses and para transit
vehicles, Medical Doctor (MD) plates, and vehicles licensed by the Taxi
and limousine Commission are exempt from this gas rationing system.
