F AND G TRAIN DELAYS IN 2012

The number of delays on the subways increased in 2012 and the first three months of 2013, according to a Straphangers Campaign survey of the MTA's electronic alerts.

The F train was the worst for controllable delays (mechanical issues, such as signals and switches, and track-related delays), with 225, up 35 percent from 2011. The G was the best, with only 34 controllable delays.

The effects of Hurricane Sandy don't explain the increase because they were occurring 10 percent more often prior to the hurricane than in 2011.
