A Mobile Test to Treat Site is a mobile van with clinical personnel who screen and prescribe COVID-19
antiviral treatment to people (age 12+) who test positive (+) onsite.
Free PCR and rapid antigen testing will be available for ages four years old and above. No money is charged, regardless of insurance or immigration status.
Look around for the van if you don't see it parked at 472 McDonald; it may have to move around to find a parking space. Last January, the van was supposed to be parked by Walgreens, but one day it had to park near Korner Pizza, and another day it had to park by Yummy Taco.

COVID-19 testing site will be set up in a van in Kensington in front of the Greater Noakhali Society at 118 Beverley Road,
between McDonald Avenue and E. 2nd Street, near Kensington Plaza (map), thanks to Councilmember Shahana Hanif, the newly-elected New York
City Councilmember for District 39.
The site will be
open from Monday, January 10th, through Sunday, January 16th, from 8:00

Councilmember Hanif reports that this NYC H+H site has
the potential to become permanent. Whether or not it will return and be made permanent depends on how many people get tested there this week.
In her announcement, Councilmember Hanif says
"Big
thank you to Laura Atlas for working with me to secure a site! And deep
gratitude to brother Zahid Mintu from the Noakhali Society (where the
van will be stationed) for his cooperation in our efforts to increase
PUBLIC testing in the neighborhood!"

About the NYC Test & Trace Corps
The NYC Test
& Trace Corps is a public health initiative to fight the threat of
COVID-19. The Corps is a group of doctors, public health professionals
and community advocates working to reverse the COVID-19 outbreak and
protect our city.
The public health program is led by NYC Health + Hospitals in close
collaboration with the NYC Department of Health and Mental Hygiene and
other city agencies.
Through its robust and citywide partnerships, The Corps helps New
Yorkers receive free, safe and confidential testing for COVID-19 and for
the antibody test. It ensures that anyone with the virus receives care,
and can safely isolate to prevent the spread. To help New Yorkers
navigate this process, The Corps has activated a specialized group of
Contact Tracers to provide resources and support every step of the way.

The Most Reverend Nicholas DiMarzio, Bishop of Brooklyn, is
pleased to announce that churches in the Diocese of Brooklyn can re-open
for Weekday Mass on Monday, June 29, 2020. The celebration of Sunday
Mass can begin with the Saturday Vigil Mass on July 4, 2020, and on
Sunday, July 5, 2020.
COVID-19 safety protocols will be in place,
including the requirement that all who enter a church must bring and must wear their own mask during the entire Mass and maintain proper social distancing.
“Catholics in Brooklyn and Queens have been longing for the
celebration of Mass and to receive the Holy Eucharist. But our sacrifice
and patience have borne fruit, and we did our part to flatten the curve
of the terrible coronavirus pandemic. Soon we can come together to be
nourished by the spiritual food we have been desperate for,” said Bishop
DiMarzio.
In preparation for the joyous day when Mass will resume, the Diocese of Brooklyn is launching a video today in English and Spanish to
give Catholics in Brooklyn and Queens an understanding of the changes
they will experience as a result of COVID-19 safety protocols designed
to keep everyone healthy and safe.
Beyond the requirement that parishioners must bring and must wear
their own mask for Mass, churches can only be filled to 25% capacity to
fulfill social distance requirements of six feet between congregants.
Families who live in the same household though will be able to sit
together.
The reception of Communion will be different. It is strongly
recommended the faithful receive Holy Communion in the hand and they
must leave their mask on when they approach the priest at a six-foot
distance. When the communicant receives the Sacred Host, they should
move to the side and consume the Eucharist immediately. Communion will
only be offered in one form; the Precious Blood will not be distributed
to the faithful at this time.
Since each church and parish is unique, the faithful should check
with their individual parishes, parish websites and social media pages
for specifics about the resumption of Mass and the safety protocols in
place.
The dispensation from the obligation to attend Mass remains in effect
until further notice. As such, the Diocese urges anyone who feels sick
in any way to stay home.
Mass will continue to be broadcast live on the
Diocesan cable channel, NET-TV, and streamed online. NET-TV is
available in the New York City market on Spectrum, channel 97; Optimum,
channel 30; and Fios by Verizon, channel 48.
“We have endured a period of great challenge, especially here in our
Diocese in Brooklyn and Queens, but the Lord was with us all the way.
Now in just over a week, we can come together and give thanks to Him,
pray for the people we lost, and those still affected by the
coronavirus. And rejoice in the celebration of the Liturgy. Thanks be to
God,” concluded Bishop DiMarzio.

Free COVID-19 antibody testing will be available in Kensington for all residents on Friday, June 5th, from noon to 5:00 p.m., at Kensington Plaza. You don't need an appointment. People will be tested on a first-come, first-served basis.
Bring identification with you. If you have insurance, bring it with you. You will get services regardless of your status and your insurance.
Thank you to Mamnunul Haq, one of the organizers of the event, for providing the information for this blog post. The Centers for Disease Control and Prevention say this about antibody testing:
"Antibody tests check your
blood by looking for antibodies, which can show if you had a past
infection with the virus that causes COVID-19.
Depending on when someone
was infected and the timing of the test, the test may not find
antibodies in someone with a current COVID-19 infection.
Antibody tests should not be used to diagnose COVID-19. To see if you
are currently infected, you need a viral test. Viral tests identify the
virus in samples from your respiratory system, such as swabs from the
inside of your nose.
If you test positive or negative for COVID-19 on a viral or an antibody
test, you still should take preventive measures to protect yourself and
others. We do not know yet if people who recover from COVID-19 can get infected again. Scientists are working to understand this.
A positive test result shows you may have antibodies from an infection
with the virus that causes COVID-19, or possibly from infection with a
related virus from the same family of viruses (called coronavirus), such
as one that causes the common cold.
We do not know yet if having antibodies to the virus that causes
COVID-19 can protect someone from getting infected again or, if they do,
how long this protection might last.
If you test negative, you may not have had COVID-19 before. Talk with
your healthcare provider about your test result and the type of test you
took to understand what your result means. You could still have a
current infection."
