News from the Windsor Terrace Library:
Windsor Terrace Library is preparing to reopen July 19 after an extensive HVAC replacement, an upgrade to the electrical systems, and a cosmetic refresh of the interiors. Thank you for your patience as we safely improve library services. Please check our location map for open branches.
Starting July 19, patrons will be able to pick up and return books, browse the collection, access technology, and participate in outdoor programs.
A rooftop antenna has also been installed on Windsor Terrace Library to extend its free wireless internet signal 300 feet into the neighborhood.
The branch closed for renovations on February 2, 2019. The projection at that time was that the building would be closed for one to two years. Factors that interfered with a smooth and consistent flow of work were the poor condition of the roof and the two-month moratorium on nonessential construction because of the COVID-19 pandemic.Later this summer, outdoor furniture will be installed so library patrons can sit outside, use the Wi-Fi for work or school, and connect safely with friends or co-workers.
The current building is the branch's first and
only one; it opened on October 22, 1969.
Previous closings include a
four-week closing for parts of March and April 2017 while the green
roof--funded through Participatory Budgeting--was being installed, a
one-week closing in December 2016 for computer and furniture upgrades,
and a four-week closing in 2011 (one week in February and three weeks in March) to install self-check machines and book
return slots.
