Newkirk Community Garden is giving new life to the garden spot that had been "Compost for Brooklyn, A community composting project and native plant garden in Kensington, Brooklyn" from 2010 to 2018.
From the garden's website:
"We are revitalizing the garden at Newkirk Avenue and East 8th Street in Brooklyn for our neighborhood, where green space is severely lacking. By improving access to the garden, we hope to make a space where people create deeper connections with each other and with the neighborhood."
