STREET RENAMING CEREMONY FOR LOCAL FIREFIGHTER WHO DIED ON 9/11

Street Renaming Ceremony
Friday, August 23rd, 1:00 p.m. to 2:00 p.m.

The block of E. 3rd Street between Caton Avenue and Albemarle Road will be renamed "Firefighter Michael Bocchino Way." Firefighter Michael Leopoldo Bocchino died in the line of duty on September 11, 2001, the day of the terrorist attack on the World Trade Center.

Mr. Bocchino lived on that block of E. 3rd Street for his entire life, until he met his untimely death at the age of forty-five.

A twenty-two-year veteran of the Fire Department of New York, Mr. Bocchino was engaged in valiant fire and rescue operations at the World Trade Center when he died. He was chief's battalion aide with Engine Company 240, Battalion 48, 1307 Prospect Avenue in Windsor Terrace.

The street renaming ceremony will be held on Friday, August 23rd, at 1:00 p.m., at the corner of Caton Avenue and E. 3rd Street.
