AGENDA FOR THE COMMUNITY BOARD 7 PUBLIC MEETING THIS MONTH






Community Board 7 Monthly Public Meeting
Wednesday, September 26th, 6:30 p.m. to 7:30 p.m.

The regular monthly board meeting of Community Board 7, representing Windsor Terrace and Sunset Park, will be held on Wednesday, September 26th, from 6:30 p.m. to 7:30 p.m. at the board office, located at 4201 4th Avenue in Sunset Park, Brooklyn. The entrance is on 43rd Street.

The board's monthly meetings are open to the public.

Members of the public are invited to comment on any issue during the Public Comment periods (items 5 and 13 on the agenda). Some issues you may be concerned about are

  •     pedestrian safety,
  •     traffic congestion,
  •     housing,
  •     land use and zoning,
  •     construction sites,
  •     outdoor lighting,
  •     potholes,
  •     sanitation,
  •     libraries,
  •     crime,
  •     police presence,
  •     graffiti,
  •     social services,
  •     rodents,
  •     trash collection,
  •     public litter baskets, and
  •     street and sidewalk conditions.

Every neighborhood in New York City is represented by an all-volunteer community board, which serves as the neighborhood's liaison to city agencies. Board members are appointed by the neighborhood's city councilperson and the borough president.

4. Adoption of the Minutes of the Board Meeting of June 20, 2018

   A) Public Safety Committee (Vote required)
       1. New liquor license application for Starway 2826 LLC located at 225 47th Street
 

   B) Transportation Committee (Vote required)
       1. Presentation by the MTA on the 59th Street Station elevator project
       2. Speed hump request for 28th Street between 3rd and 4th avenues
       3. Speed hump request for 45th Street between 2nd and 3rd avenues
       4. Speed hump request for East 5th Street between Fort Hamilton Parkway and Caton Avenue
 

   C) Asian Affairs Committee
       1. Discussion on 8th Avenue BID
       2. Discussion on public safety
       3. Discussion on traffic congestions on 8th Avenue
       4. Discussion on sanitation issues
 

   D) Ad Hoc Committee on Homelessness Issues (Vote required)
       1. Establishing a Mission Statement for the committee
       2. Creating short and long term goals, including assessment of the current homeless status in our district
       3. Support Introduction #0915 requiring DHS to submit quarterly reports to Council Members and local community boards the number of shelters, supportive housing and cluster sites in each district
       4. Discuss and adopt revised mission statement
       5. Prioritize goals and set a timetable
       6. Assign volunteers to work in specific areas
       7. Arrange the next committee meeting
 

   E) Education/Youth Committee
       1. Presentation by LEEP Charter school on a proposed public charter school for Sunset Park
       2. Presentation by Brooklyn RISE on a proposed charter school in the CB7 community
       3. Presentation by Envision Preparatory Charter School for a proposed charter school in the CB7 community
       4. Presentation by CEC15 on the D15 Diversity Plan
 

   F) Economic Development-Waterfront Committee Meeting
       1. Presentation by the Southwest Brooklyn Industrial Development Corporation on their Industrial Apprenticeship training program
       2. Review of outcomes from CB7 public hearing and Land Use committee meeting in 2012 regarding Liberty View Plaza
