Thursday, March 9th, 7 p.m. to 9 p.m.
The Kensington chapter of Showing Up for Racial Justice (SURJ Kensington) will host a meeting at Brooklyn Commune on Thursday, March 9th, from 7 p.m. to 9 p.m.
SURJ is a national network of groups and individuals that organizes white people to work for racial justice by using the tools of community organizing, mobilizing, and education. SURJ provides white people with an opportunity to act as part of a multi-racial majority for justice.
Space at the meeting site is limited; RSVP for the meeting so that the organizers can figure out if they will have room to accommodate everyone.
If you can't make it to the meeting, you can still indicate your interest in
- being trained to do rapid response work when there is ICE activity in Kensington,
- helping with outreach to neighborhood businesses and faith institutions to be part of the Kensington Hate Free Zone,
- hosting small discussion groups in your home on racial justice and self-education, and/or
- being part of a steering committee for SURJ Kensington to help coordinate projects, meetings, and communication.
