RESERVE A FREE TREE TO GROW IN BROOKLYN

Want a free Pagoda Dogwood (shown above), Eastern Redbud, Serviceberry, or American Plum (and free mulch)? Reserve a tree online now, then pick it up at Green-Wood Cemetery on Saturday, March 15th, between 2:00 and 3:00 p.m., during the MillionTreesNYC Tree Giveaway.

Show up by 3:00 p.m. or someone else will get your tree! From 3:00 to 4:00, unclaimed trees will be given away on a first come, first served basis to whoever shows up. They'll be considered unclaimed if someone who registered for one didn't pick it up by 3:00 or if the number of trees available exceeded the number reserved.

Horticultural experts will be available to answer any kind of gardening question you have.

Pick-up will be at the cemetery's entrance at 500 25th Street at 5th Avenue. Free parking is available.

The free tree giveaway will be repeated on Sunday, April 6th, from noon to 2:00, at Compost for Brooklyn on Newkirk Avenue at E. 8th Street in Kensington. Registration hasn't opened yet for that location. Keep an eye on this page to see when Compost for Brooklyn registration begins.

The trees are for planting in the ground in front yards, back yards, and community gardens, at community centers, in schoolyards, etc. and not on streets, in city parks, in planters or containers, or on terraces, balconies, or roofs.
