Instead of putting your yard and sidewalk leaves out for the Sanitation Department to collect and transport to a landfill, bring them to the Compost for Brooklyn garden at E. 8th Street and Newkirk Avenue in Kensington. Leaves are valuable "browns" (carbon-rich material) that balance the food scraps in the compost bins.
