We will have a Saturday version of our weekly Freedom Fridays event, with signs and music and dancing.
The focus of the event is Hands Off NYC and building a stronger Kensington network of mutual support in case of federal troops and/or ICE.
We are planning to give out whistles and whistle cards for people to use if they spot ICE activity in their neighborhood and Know Your Rights information, along with zines and talk to people about readying New York for ICE/National Guard.We will be talking with people about the Hands Off NYC campaign, informing our neighbors about efforts to protect our city from potential ICE or National Guard incursion, and providing resources to assist people facing food insecurity during the government shutdown.We will be sending canvassers to local businesses to encourage them to put up EMPLOYEES ONLY signs in their stores to protect undocumented workers.
