People's Town Hall for a Green New Deal
Thursday, February 20th, 7:00 p.m. to 9:00 p.m.
Come to the People's Town Hall for a Green New Deal in New York. The goals are achieving 100% renewable energy now, stopping all fossil fuel infrastructure, establishing public power for all, and taxing the rich to fund a Green New Deal.
Featured speakers at the free event will be State Senator Kevin Parker, Assemblymember Robert Carroll (confirmed), New York City Councilmember Brad Lander (confirmed), youth leaders, and more.
Another outsized increase in Con Edison's rates has been granted. Assemblymember Carroll's op-ed response "Time for Public Power for New York" in Gotham Gazette states the case to "make our utilities and electric generation publicly owned, 100% renewable, and democratically controlled."
A step on the road to a Green New Deal is the Climate Leadership & Community Protection Act, signed into legislation in New York just last year.
