FREE CRIBS AND PLAY YARDS FOR SAFE SLEEPING

The aim of the nationwide Safe Sleep Campaign is to reduce infant mortality by providing babies with a safe sleeping environment. To that end, Delta Children is donating $1,000,000 worth of cribs and play yards this year to families in need.

Brooklyn Borough President Eric Adams is partnering with Delta Children in the Safe Sleep Brooklyn Campaign. Delta Children, a children's furniture company that started in Brooklyn more than forty years ago, has given BP Adams 400 cribs and play yards to distribute through community boards, hospitals, churches, and non-profit organizations.

Click here to fill out the form posted by Community Board 12 and submit it online by Friday, May 9th. Submitting a form doesn't guarantee that you'll receive a crib or play yard. The first 400 eligible families that submit a form will receive them.

The campaign also shares safety tips with parents on how to insure a safe sleep for their infants and how to prevent SIDS (Sudden Infant Death Syndrome) and other sleep-related deaths.

Eligibility for a free crib or play yard is based on

  • having a low income or
  • being unemployed or under-employed or
  • being recently displaced (for example, by Hurricane Sandy or a flood, fire, or other disaster) or
  • "other."

For more information, call BP Adams' office at (718) 802-4042. Residents within Community Board 12's borders can call the board at (718) 851-0800.
