The New York City Office of Emergency
Management (OEM) has issued a Hazardous Travel Advisory for Thursday, February 13th, and Friday, February 14th. Snow amounting to 4 to 7 inches is forecast for the Thursday morning commute.
The National Weather Service has forecast a total of 8 to 12 inches of
heavy, wet snow through Friday morning.
A Winter Storm Warning will be in effect
from midnight tonight (Wednesday) until 6:00 a.m. Friday.
The Department of Buildings is reminding
property owners to de-ice public areas and safely remove snow from roofs,
overhangs, and awnings. The buildup of wet snow and rain can present a threat to
the structural integrity of a building.
Property owners have a legal
responsibility to maintain their properties in a safe condition. If ice and snow
removal is not possible, property owners should rope off the unsafe area. Don't be the reason your neighbors slip and slide and fall and get hurt!
