The rent is too damn high. So, at the end of the night on New Year's Eve, Butterfunk Kitchen and Sumner's
Luncheonette will close permanently.
They'll be open with regular service through
December 30th (except on December 24th and 25th).
Mingle with the much-loved owners, Chef Chris Scott and Eugenie Woo, and the staff at Sumner's on Sunday, December 30th, at 3:00 p.m., for
cake and coffee and laughter and tears.
The next day, Monday, December
31st, Butterfunk Kitchen will offer regular service, followed by a New Year's
Eve/farewell party reception. A ticket page will be going up soon on
their website.
Chris and Eugenie will open a restaurant, Birdman Juke Joint, in Bridgeport, Connecticut, in early 2019. They will, no doubt, spread their love of humanity and community there as they've done in Brooklyn.
