Kira and son |
If you're looking at the blog on your phone, click "view web version" to see the calendar. (Thanks for the tip, Aaron Harrow.)
As Kira explains,
"The idea is pretty simple. I started getting tired of checking 7 different websites to see what was happening at Lark or the library or in the park. So I thought that other moms were probably doing the same thing with 13 different tabs open on the computer, wondering 'What should we do today??'
"I'm hoping I have time to update it weekly--checking the other sites' calendars, writing a little something, posting a cute pic (I have a 10-month-old son), and making people feel like the day is full of possibilities.
"Being a stay-at-home mom can be isolating; I'm trying to add to the feeling of community by sharing in this way. The blog is brand-new, so who knows what it will become? For now, I just hope it can be a useful tool."
If you know of an upcoming event to list on the calendar, tell Kira about it at brooklynmamahelper @ gmail.com. The blog is a labor of love, one neighbor's contribution to the community, so everything on it is posted free of charge.
Thanks for undertaking this, Kira. Good luck!
