Operation Gig! provides live music performances outdoors on weekends. The Operation Gig! concert series has been held on the porches of private houses in Ditmas Park since July 2020.

The series was created to offer a venue for musicians to perform in during the COVID-19 pandemic. The series continues to provide a source of income to musicians while offering neighbors a safe space to gather to enjoy live music.

The performances are free, but a suggested donation of $10--which goes directly to the musicians--is more than welcome. Donate either at the performance or online at the tax-deductible Operation Gig Musician Guarantee Fund page on GoFundMe.

MCDONALD AVENUE ROAD RESURFACING IS IN PROGRESS FOR THE BIKE LANE

Preparation for installation of the two-way bike lane on McDonald Avenue has begun. The bike lane will run from 10th Avenue/20th Street to Fort Hamilton Parkway on the west side of McDonald Avenue, alongside Green-Wood Cemetery.

The Department of Transportation's detailed presentation on the bike lane is posted on its website at https://www.nyc.gov/html/dot/downloads/pdf/mcdonald-ave-10-ave-20-st-ft-hamilton-pkwy-oct2026.pdf.

The milling of McDonald Avenue began on the night of October 29, 2026, and continued on the night of October 30, 2026. It will continue on the nights of November 2, 4, 5, and 6, 2026, and possibly longer; no work will be done on November 3, 2026, which is Election Day.

The weekly resurfacing schedule for all of Brooklyn is posted at https://nycstreets.net/PavementWorks/Project/WeeklyResurfacingSchedule/B. The job number for this resurfacing is B202607002.

The milling and paving schedule only displays one week at a time; the week of November 1 through November 7, 2026, is currently displayed.

Milling is the first phase of the resurfacing process. Milling is the grinding up of the existing asphalt.

The second phase is paving. About 80% of milled roads are paved within three weeks of the completion of milling. About 20% are paved within two weeks.

During the third phase, lane lines,  stop lines, crosswalks, and symbols (arrows, for example) are painted onto the road. Bike lanes are installed during this phase.
