Join us at One World Project for ¡Celebra Brooklyn!, a two-week Spanish-immersion camp where children ages 2–6 explore the history, cultures, neighborhoods, and communities that make Brooklyn so unique.

Through art, music, storytelling, cooking, outdoor adventures, and hands-on projects, campers discover the borough they call home while building language skills, friendships, and a deeper connection to their community.

Our play-based camp welcomes children of all Spanish levels—no prior experience is necessary. Families can enroll for one or both weeks. We offer financial aid and accept active ACS vouchers.

ARROW LINEN: JOIN THE ARROW LINEN CONSTRUCTION TASK FORCE FOR NEIGHBORHOOD RESIDENTS

Apply to Join the 441 and 467 Prospect Ave Construction Task Force.

Our office is establishing a Construction Task Force for 441 and 467 Prospect Avenue (the former Arrow Linen site) to ensure transparency, accountability, and ongoing communication throughout construction.

The Task Force will bring together nearby residents, local stakeholders, city agencies, the development team, and our office to address construction schedules, noise and dust mitigation, pedestrian safety, truck activity, and other quality-of-life concerns.

If you live in close proximity to the project and are interested in serving on the Task Force, please email our Land Use Director, Sabine Aronowsky, at saronowsky@council.nyc.gov by midnight on July 12, 2026. 

Preference will be given to neighbors and businesses located closest to the project site.

PLANT PARTY FOR WOMEN WITH CANCER (FREE)

 A Plant Party for Women with Cancer

Monday, June 22nd, 5:00 p.m. 

An "inspiring event for women with cancer to connect to each other and nature" will take place in Windsor Terrace on Monday, June 22nd, at 5:00 p.m. At the plant party, attendees will "decorate and pot Pothos Ivy plants to take home."

 

Girl Scouts Mila and Viola created this event as their Silver Award project. To earn a Silver Award, a Girl Scout identifies an issue that she cares about and then takes an action that will make a positive difference in her community.

 

These two Scouts want to "teach women with cancer the benefits of house plants and how to grow them." They were inspired to do this "because a couple of our loved ones have or have gone through cancer and have benefited through the power of plants."

STREET TREE CARE EVENT IN WINDSOR TERRACE (FREE)

Street Tree Care

From Prospect Farm:

Please join Big Reuse, the District 39 Tree Care Team, Council Member Shahana Hanif’s Office, Field Form, and Prospect Farm for a couple hours of street tree care.

 

Big Reuse will provide a brief tutorial on street tree care essentials, and the benefits of compost application. Also, our friends from Field Form will share information about the use of biochar in soil amendment for tree health.

 

Then, we will fan out in teams to freshen up the tree beds by picking up garbage, weeding, cultivating soil, and applying compost on Prospect Avenue and neighboring side streets.

 

All supplies are provided. 

All ages are welcome. Volunteers 16 years or younger must provide a completed STC Minor Waiver + Photo Release PDF signed by parent/guardian in order to participate. Email austin@bigreuse.org with any questions. Bring the hard copy to hand in prior to the event or email the form.

Jazz Guitar w/ Ed MacEachen

Ed MacEachen is a jazz guitarist who got his professional start in 1977 in his hometown of Cleveland, Ohio, where he studied with Bill D’Arrango (sideman with Ben Webster and Dizzy Gillespie). Ed moved to New York in 1984, working in the bands of Jack McDuff, Chico Hamilton and Ernestine Anderson. He lives and performs in the New York City area and can be heard on Eliot Zigmund’s “Starlight,” Bill Mobley’s “Singularity” and Liz Child's "Take Flight," among others. Ed teaches in the New School for Jazz and Contemporary Music program (since 1989) and at the 92nd Street Y (since 1996).

Pollinator Walkabout with the Flatbush Gardener

1:00 – 3:00pm

Explore the garden’s plants and flowers, and learn how to see them in new ways with urban naturalist Chris Kreussling (aka the Flatbush Gardener). We'll "hunt" for pollinators, and other flower visitors, around the garden. As we try to identify them, we'll learn about the garden’s biodiversity and ecology.

Open Bluegrass Jam

2:00 – 4:00pm

Open Bluegrass Jam Sessions are scheduled throughout the 2026 season, weather permitting. Bring your guitar, ukulele, banjo, etc., and join in! All skill levels and ages are welcome. Kids are invited to dance along and possibly even touch the instruments after the session.

All ages welcome! Kids are asked to bring a favorite toy that can be placed in various parts of the garden to create a little scene. We can combine toys too for more interesting setups, then make drawings of the toys among the plants and We can also write stories about the toy and its adventures in the garden. Each kid will get a little drawing book. Markers, colored pencils, and oil pastels will be provided.

ARROW LINEN FILES DEMOLITION PERMITS TO BUILD TEN-STORY BUILDING

Hi everyone, It's been a busy few weeks, and we'd like to catch you up on the latest news: On April 13, 2026, Arrow Linen filed for permits for full demolition of their properties. We have been in frequent contact with Council Member Hanif's office, and there's no current date for when demolition may begin. Arrow's reps tell the Council Member that nothing will happen before they move their operation to another location in Brooklyn. Neighbors who have spoken with Arrow's workers were told that the operation will be moving to Sunset Park in August. In the meantime, we are speaking with: The Council Member's office to initiate the Construction Task Force as specified in the Community Benefit Agreement Structural engineers to help neighbors adjacent to Arrow's property with pre-construction engineering reports Construction lawyers to better understand Arrow's financial and safety obligations during the demolition and construction process In other news: Mayor Mamdani's administration has released a housing plan for Brooklyn south of Prospect Park, which includes a survey where you can share your thoughts about the affected neghborhoods.
