From Julie Peppito, Peppito Art Studio:
Summer Art - Portfolio Camp (Registration open now)
Hi Neighbors,
I
am the owner and director of Peppito Art Workshop (PAW), located in
Kensington, Brooklyn (near MS 839); my name is Julie Peppito. In addition to teaching at PAW, I am a full time artist with a BFA from The Cooper Union, an MFA from Alfred University, and decades of experience making and exhibiting art. Almost all of my students have gotten into top NYC Art High Schools, including La Guardia, Murrow, Sinatra, Art & Design, Brooklyn High School of the Arts, and more. If your young artist will be an 8th grader this fall or next fall, it's a good idea to begin their portfolios now.
From a parent: “When
we decided to enroll Eli in the portfolio class, I thought of it as a
means to an end, but I now realize that I was completely wrong. Eli's
art is so very improved, but even more remarkable has been the
improvement to his art making process. I'm no artist myself, but I do
spend some time teaching writing, and the value of process is something I
talk a lot about. I feel like Eli is really starting to grasp what it
means to see and work like an artist.”
Registration is open now. My
program is small, only 10 participants in each camp. I cover the 4
required portfolio pieces: still life, self-portrait, figure drawing, and
fantastical sandwich (fantastical sandwich is only required for some
art high schools but is a great extra piece). If there is time, we will
work on the 1 to 4 extra pieces for the portfolio as well. Find out more here: https://www.peppitoartworkshop.com/portfolio-prep. Please sign up for my mailing list and make sure you add my email addresses to your address book so you don't miss my email reminders for upcoming programs:

I have 30+ years of experience as a gallery artist and public artist in NYC.
