WOMAN APPROACHED BY MAN AT FORT HAMILTON PARKWAY SUBWAY STATION

A woman in the neighborhood is sharing an experience she had in order to alert other women. We thank her.

I don't know if this is a one-off incident or something that may happen again but I thought it's better to let people know just in case. This past Thursday, I was getting out at the southern exit of the Fort Hamilton F/G train station around 7 pm when a creepy man approached me just outside the turnstile.

He said, "You look very familiar. Have we met before?" I took a quick look at him, registered no recognition and replied coldly, "No, I don't think so." He said sorry and I walked home as quickly as I could turning back once to make sure he wasn't following me. (I was relieved not to see him but still felt very threatened since the streets were empty.) 

The encounter was really odd because I was bundled up, with the collar of my long winter coat over my mouth and nose. I had my head down as I was getting out of the turnstile and thought it bizarre that someone would be able to instantly think I look "very familiar."

The man was white, had light hair—either blond or silver—and thick-framed glasses. I'd say he could be in his late 40s or into his 50s. I didn't glean any more information beyond that, I'm afraid.

Again, I'm not sure if this is relevant but wondered if other women in the neighborhood had experienced something similar.
