A PEDESTRIAN PLAZA IS PROPOSED FOR BEVERLEY ROAD, AND YOUR FEEDBACK IS REQUESTED

Update: The proposal for Beverley Road Plaza, made to Community Board 12 on June 27, 2023, by the New York City Department of Transportation, is posted at https://www.nyc.gov/html/dot/downloads/pdf/beverley-rd-plaza-cb12-jun2023.pdf.

------------------------------------------

A pedestrian plaza is proposed for Beverley Road between E. 2nd Street and Church Avenue. That block became a weekend participant in the Department of Transportation (DOT) Open Streets program in summer 2022 and will participate again in 2023.

A pedestrian plaza is a car-free area designated by the DOT for pedestrian circulation, use, and enjoyment on property under the jurisdiction of the DOT.

Would you like to have permanent changes made on that block that will prioritize pedestrians and cyclists? Do you want seating, plants, protected pedestrian space, etc.? And festivals, dance and music, visual arts, etc?

The Department of Transportation is interested in bringing about safety and public space improvements on that block for pedestrians, merchants, and cyclists. To that end, the department's Public Space Unit was at the Beverley Road Open Street on Saturday, June 3rd, from noon to 2:00 p.m., to better understand where those safety improvements could be made.

If you didn't have an opportunity to talk to them at that time, you can instead fill out the Beverley Road Open Street Community Feedback Survey by Friday, June 30th, so they can hear your suggestions for turning that block into a plaza.

The survey is available in English, Spanish, and Bangla.
