CLEAN AND GREEN EVENT: ELECTRONICS RECYCLING, TEXTILE RECYCLING, AND KIDS' STOP 'N' SWAP


Annual Spring Clean & Green
Sunday, April 21st, 10:00 a.m. to 2:00 p.m.
 
Assemblymember Robert Carroll's Annual Spring Clean & Green event will take place on Sunday, April 21st, from 10:00 a.m. to 2:00 p.m., rain or shine.
 
The event will feature
  • electronics recycling,
  • textile recycling,
  • kids' Stop 'N' Swap (clean, portable items, such as clothing, housewares, books, and toys; canceled if it is a rainy day),
  • giveaways,
  • special services,
  • information, and
  • demonstrations.
NOTE: Due to the New York City budget cuts, this year’s event will not include paper shredding. Instead, Assemblymember Carroll will host paper shredding at his District Office in Park Slope on May 31st (416 7th Avenue, between 13th and 14th streets).

Electronics recycling: E-waste will be accepted from 10:00 a.m. until 1:00 p.m. If you are planning to drop off e-waste, RSVP here.
 
Okay to bring:
  • monitors (CRT and flatscreen)
  •  computers (laptops, desktops, servers, mainframes)
  • handheld devices (smartphones, tablets, MP3 players, e-readers, etc.)
  • network devices (routers, hubs, modems, etc.)
  • peripherals (keyboards, mice, cables, cords, chargers, etc.)
  • components (hard drives, CD-ROMs, circuit boards, power supplies, etc.)
  • printers, scanners, fax machines
  • TVs, VCRs, DVRs, DVD & Blu-ray players
  • digital converter boxes, cable/satellite receivers
  • video game consoles and accessories
  • cell phones, pagers, PDAs
  • audio-visual equipment (cameras, microphones, stereo equipment, etc.)
 Not okay to bring 
  • paint
  • batteries
  • non-electronic items
  • motor oil
  • fluorescent light bulbs and CFLs
Textile recycling: Bring footwear, all clothing, accessories (such as hats, belts, backpacks, and bags), linens, bedding, towels, curtains, comforters, Halloween costumes, and throw rugs. Don't bring single shoes, hard suitcases, or room-size rugs, mats, pillows, comforters, or insulation material.
