ELEMENTARY SCHOOL OPENING IN BROOKLYN PROSPECT CHARTER SCHOOL THIS FALL

Brooklyn Prospect Windsor Terrace Elementary School will open in September 2020, starting with two kindergarten classes. Each class will have about twenty-seven students and two teachers. The elementary school will grow by one grade each year until it reaches 5th grade.

The school will offer a fee-based daily after-school program.

The elementary school will be located in the 3002 Fort Hamilton Parkway building for two years until Brooklyn Prospect Charter School finds a more long-term home for it, hopefully within a reasonable distance of that location.

Two information sessions about the elementary school will take place, one on Monday, March 16th, from 6:00 p.m. to 7:30 p.m. and one on Tuesday, March 17th, also from 6:00 p.m. to 7:30 p.m.

Both sessions will meet in the school gym at 202 Caton Avenue, on the corner of E. 2nd Street, the former home of Kensington Fitness.

The Windsor Terrace building, opened in September 2009, currently houses a middle school, which is moving out this summer into an interim space, and a high school.

The elementary and high schools will have their own entrances for arrival and dismissal. The schools will be on separate floors, with the elementary school being housed on the fourth floor. They won't share cafeteria or gym space. Elementary school students will have breakfast, lunch, and snack time in their classrooms. They'll have sole use of the courtyard and will have their own bathrooms.

Lottery and waitlist applications for the 2020-21 school year are now available.

Brooklyn Prospect Charter School is a free public charter school. Its liberal arts curriculum is modeled around the International Baccalaureate program.
