STREET FAIR TO CELEBRATE PAKISTANI INDEPENDENCE DAY


Brooklyn Mela for Pakistani Independence
Sunday, August 18th, 12:30 p.m.

Celebrate the 72nd anniversary of Pakistan's independence in 1947 from Great Britain at the Brooklyn Mela (Sanskrit for “gathering”). The festival, first held in 1990, is held in Midwood, where New York City’s largest Pakistani community lives.

Highlights of the mela for adults and children are Pakistani cuisine, handicrafts, boutiques, children’s entertainment, and entertainment by Pakistani pop artists.

Pakistani American Merchants Association organizes the Brooklyn Mela.
