THE 6 TRAIN HAS BEEN HIJACKED: THE TAKING OF PELHAM ONE TWO THREE

Movie Night: The Taking of Pelham One Two Three (1974)
Thursday, September 1st, 9:30 p.m. to 11:30 p.m.

The 6 train has been hijacked. Four armed men are holding passengers and the conductor hostage. They're isolated in a subway car that's been decoupled from the rest of the train. The hijackers are demanding that the city pay them a ransom of $1,000,000 in exchange for the hostages. They want the money delivered to them in one hour--or they'll start killing the passengers.

The Kensington Stewards invite everyone in the community to a free presentation of the original version of the thriller The Taking of Pelham One Two Three. The movie will be shown at the recently-opened Avenue C Plaza, at the intersection of Avenue C and McDonald Avenue.

The Stewards will provide seating for the audience.

This 1974 movie is based on the novel of the same name, written  by Brooklyn-born Morton Freedgood, about the hijacking of a subway that originated at the Pelham Bay Park station in the Bronx--the 6 train. "One Two Three" refers to the time that the train left the station: 1:23 p.m.

Walter Matthau, Martin Balsam, Robert Shaw, Hector Elizondo, and Jerry Stiller star in the movie, which runs for 104 minutes.
