About three weeks after milling, paving will begin.

Milling is the noisy process of grinding off the top layer of asphalt or the surface of a roadway in preparation for paving it.

The night before a street is scheduled to be milled or paved, the Department of Transportation is supposed to post tow-away/no parking signs on both sides of the street. Notice is also posted on the Department of Transportation's Brooklyn Milling and Paving Schedule.

Milling and paving schedules can change if the weather or an emergency prevent work from being done. To find out about any changes in the schedule, call 311 from Monday to Friday, 7:00 a.m. to 7:00 p.m.
