"BROOKLYN BY NAME" TROLLEY TOUR
"Brooklyn By Name" Trolley Tour
Saturday, August 15th, 1:00 p.m. to 3:00 p.m.
Bergen, Schermerhorn, Martense, Havemeyer, Berry, and Tompkins are names of some Brooklyn streets, subway stations, and parks. They came from influential and powerful 19th-century Brooklynites who are buried in Green-Wood Cemetery.
Expert tour guide Ruth Edebohls will lead a tour of the burial sites of these people. Learn about their lives, their businesses, and their families and how they become powerful enough to have a street named after them.
Cost: $15 for members of the Green-Wood Historic Fund and the Brooklyn Historical Society; $20 for non-members.
Green-Wood trolley tours are fully accessible and ADA compliant.
Reservations are recommended. Order tickets online here.
Meet inside the main gate of Green-Wood at 25th Street at 5th Avenue. Take the R train to 25th Street and walk up the hill one block and into the cemetery. Free parking is available.
