MEAT AND POULTRY CSA IS ACCEPTING NEW MEMBERS

Tired of lugging home farm fresh meat, poultry, eggs, and cheese from the Greenmarket or gourmet supermarket?

The KWT Meat and Poultry CSA (Community Supported Agriculture) brings them right to the neighborhood once a month. Unlike a traditional veggie/fruit CSA, you get to choose what, how, much, and when to order,
and you pay order by order, not in advance.

We now have openings for new members!

WHAT IS A MEAT CSA?
It is a cooperative way to buy local grass fed, organic and humanely raised beef, poultry, pork and other meats from local farmers and have it delivered to your neighborhood monthly. It is a cheaper alternative to buying organic meat AND it supports local upstate farmers.

WHO ARE OUR FARMERS?
We work with Lewis Waite Farm in upstate New York, who coordinates a network of farms in and surrounding Washington County, NY.  Visit their web site to learn more about their farmer network: www.csalewiswaitefarm.com.

WHY BUY GRASS FED MEAT?
Grass fed meat is pasture raised and not fattened on corn or grain or
meat byproducts. It is not treated with hormones or antibiotics or
synthetic vitamins. Compared with factory farmed meat, they offer you more "good" fats, and fewer "bad" fats. They are richer in antioxidants; including vitamins E, beta-carotene, and vitamin C. Furthermore, they do not contain traces of added hormones, antibiotics or other drugs. It is healthier for you and is more humane.

HOW DOES THIS CSA WORK?
* Each month you order from the Farm's website, choosing from a wide variety of pasture-raised beef and pork, poultry, home made cheeses, free range eggs, sausage, bread, flour, honey, legumes, etc. You only order what you want and you do not have to order every month.

* The farmer drops off our orders once per month at a designated
location in the neighborhood. That location is currently Brooklyn
Commune
  (thanks, Chris & Eugenie!).

* Pickup time is currently (Fall/Winter) between 2:30 & 4:30 on Saturdays. Pickup time will change in the Spring/Summer pickup to Thursdays between 5:00 & 7:00.
