BATATA PITA BAR OPENING ON MONDAY

On Monday, December 15th, Batata Pita Bar will open, with Melissa Pony as the chef. The new restaurant will operate seven days a week, and during the winter, it will be open weekdays from 8:00 a.m. to 9:00 p.m. and weekends from 9:00 a.m. to 9:00 p.m.

Delivery service will start a week after the opening.

Co-owner Shenhav Yehzkel introduces Batata to the neighborhood by telling us that
"Batata was inspired by our love for Israeli food. We crave it, we love it, we need it.

Coming from a long family lineage of tahini and falafel makers, it felt natural to open our own little cozy and comforting neighborhood restaurant. We imagined Batata as fun and inviting; the kind of place where all of our neighbors could come to munch on delicious falafel while playing a round of backgammon, Otis Redding playing in the background.

We call it Batata, which means sweet potato in Hebrew, because it captures what we have created--a place that is humble and nourishing but also a bit of a treat. We are so excited to see our vision become a reality, and to share our enthusiasm with you.

At Batata, like our own kitchen, we believe our food should reflect our care for the environment and appreciation for the good bounty the earth provides. We use chicken that is free of antibiotics and hormones and source fresh and local ingredients.

We welcome you to Batata and hope you enjoy our food, made with love and care!"
Among the offerings will be sweet potato falafel, traditional falafel, schnitzel and waffle (their take on the classic fried chicken and waffle) and other Israeli/Middle Eastern treats, and smoothies.
