TO HONOR THOSE WHO HAVE PASSED: A FESTIVAL TO CELEBRATE THE DAY OF THE DEAD

The Day of the Dead Festival
Sunday, November 2nd, 11:00 a.m. to 1:00 p.m.

The Singing Winds invites you to its family-friendly Day of the Dead Festival (Dia de Muertos) on All Souls' Day. The Mexican holiday, also celebrated throughout Latin America, honors the dead in rituals that are over 3,000 years old.
  • Taste the pan de muerto and arroz con leche.
  • Make a skeleton puppet.
  • Create a memory for the community ofrenda (offering).
  • Enjoy the performances of the Ballet Folklorico Quetzalcoatl from Sunset Park.

Other free activities for all ages include

  • facepainting,
  • crafts,
  • a procession, and
  • poetry with Cynthia Fortozo and friends.

The event will be in Albemarle Playground on McDonald Avenue between Albemarle Road and Caton Avenue, behind P.S. 230.
