WANTED: PUBLIC SPACE

Occupy Kensington Assembly
Sunday, May 19th, 7:00 p.m.

We need public space!

That's Occupy Kensington's rallying cry for tomorrow night's assembly.

Kensington boasts one of the most wonderfully diverse neighborhoods in New York City, including a growing youth population. But the lack of public open space and the absence of a community center helps keep its people--whose roots span the globe and whose religions embrace a variety of beliefs--largely separated. Having shared interests and experiences could be the basis of uniting the groups.

Other items on the agenda are an update on the labor situation at Golden Farm, the Legal Services strike, Left Forum, and planning Occupy Kensington meetings and events for the summer.

Meet on the E. 5th Street side of the former El Gavilan restaurant at the corner of E. 5th Street and Church Avenue. If the weather is rainy or cold, the meeting will be held indoors at 309 E. 5th Street, a few houses away from the corner in the direction of Albemarle Road.

Occupy Kensington meets every two weeks.
