GARBAGE COLLECTION CHANGES

Garbage collection is going to be reduced in neighborhoods that weren't heavily affected by Hurricane Sandy so that the Sanitation Department's resources can continue to focus 24 hours a day on the Rockaways, Coney Island, and Staten Island's South Shore. Areas that normally have three garbage pickups a week may be cut to two. Areas that normally have two pickups a week may be cut to one.

Curbside recycling won't be collected until further notice, and residents won't be fined for leaving garbage at the curb during this time.
