POST-HURRICANE SANDY TRANSPORTATION AND OTHER ISSUES

Parking: alternate side of the street parking regulations and parking meters are suspended Wednesday.

Tunnels: seven tunnels underneath the East River were flooded, affecting the 2, 3, 4, 5, 7, L, A, C, and F subway lines.


Buses: Partial MTA bus service will resume today (Tuesday) at 5:00 p.m. Buses will operate on a fare-free basis and on a Sunday schedule. A full schedule is expected for Wednesday. Rides will continue to be fare-free. These Brooklyn bus lines are operating as of 5:00 p.m.:
B1, B3, B15, B35, B41, B44, B46, B61, B82, Q58, Q59. The Brooklyn bus map illustrates where these lines operate.


Bridges: the East River bridges reopened at 2:00 p.m.


MTA Bridges:
All MTA bridges except the ones in the Rockaways are open. 


Driving and walking: Avoid driving and walking as much as possible. Fallen trees may be blocking streets. Flying debris is a danger. 


Electricity: Con Edison estimates that customers in Brooklyn and Manhattan served by underground electric equipment should have power back within four days. Restoration to all customers in other areas served by overhead power lines will take at least a week. 

Schools: New York City public schools and charter schools will be closed tomorrow, Wednesday, October 31st, along with all CUNY schools.

Halloween Parades: the Park Slope Civic Council has cancelled tomorrow night's annual Halloween Parade; this event will not be rescheduled. The Prospect Park South parade has also been canceled.


Parks:
New York City public parks will be closed until further notice.


Playgrounds: New York City playgrounds will be closed until further notice.

Beaches: New York City beaches will be closed until further notice.

Recreation centers: New York City recreation centers will be closed until further notice.

Fallen trees: report fallen trees and sewer backups to 311 Online, text 311 at 311-692, or call 311.

Water: New York City's drinking water is safe. 


911: Only call 911 in an emergency.


311: when you call 311 for a non-emergency situation, hang on until someone answers.
