HOW PEOPLE IN KENSINGTON SAY "TREE"

Many languages are spoken in Kensington. When Kensington Plaza was created a few months ago, in recognition of those languages and the people who speak them, residents found some attractive rocks, wrote the word "tree" on them in various languages, and placed them around the tree directly in front of Walgreens.

Bridget Elder, co-coordinator of the Kensington Plaza Stewardship Group, is currently expanding on that work. So far, thirty-eight languages are represented through the word "tree," with more to be done.

The Kensington Plaza Stewardship Group is a volunteer group made up of residents who pick up litter in the plaza every day. They have a great interest in keeping the plaza in good condition for the neighborhood's enjoyment.
