TALKING ABOUT DIRT AND SOIL

Dirt and Soil
Wednesday, February 16th
7:00 p.m. to 9:30 p.m.


Prospect Farm and Sustainable Flatbush will present the first talk in their series "Brooklyn Dirt: Monthly Talks on Urban Farming and Gardening" on Wednesday, February 16th, from 7:00 p.m. to 9:30 p.m. at Sycamore Bar + Flowershop, 1118 Cortelyou Road, between E. 11th Street and Argyle Road.

The speakers for the first talk, "Dirt and Soil," will be Jay Smith and Chris Kreussling ( also known as Flatbush Gardener).

The event is open to people ages 21 and up.
The suggested donation is $5. Proceeds will be used to benefit Prospect Farm and the Urban Gardens and Farms Initiative of Sustainable Flatbush.

About Jay Smith
Jay Smith is a lifelong environmentalist, a member of several environmental organizations, and a member of the Park Slope Food Coop. He's completing a Certificate of Horticulture from Brooklyn Botanic Garden and is deeply interested in Urban Agriculture and re-localization of food production in anticipation of food issues in the wake of the peak oil crisis.

About Chris Kreussling
Chris Kreussling is a garden coach with more than thirty years of gardening experience in New York City. Chris is also the Director of the Urban Gardens and Farms initiative of Sustainable Flatbush and a community member of the Healthy Soils, Healthy Communities advisory board, a project of the Cornell Waste Management Institute. He earned a Brooklyn Botanic Garden Certificate in Horticulture in 2009.

About Prospect Farm
Prospect Farm is a community group in Windsor Terrace that is working together to grow food in a formerly vacant lot, with the mission toward creating a Community Supported Agriculture (CSA) Farm that can serve our community. Prospect Farm is the community leader for the Kensington/Windsor Terrace neighborhood group for the Brooklyn Food Coalition.
