FROGGY PARK MURAL: A FEW HUNDRED DOLLARS MORE IN DONATIONS IS NEEDED

Update, 9/26/22: The goal has been reached as of this morning--although Friends of Thomas J. Cuite Park won't turn away additional donations!

-------------------------------------------------------

Friends of Thomas J. Cuite Park has commissioned Brooklyn-based artist Jaima to paint a community-themed mural (see the mockup above) on the wall at the Seeley Street entrance to the park. Froggy Park, as it's popularly known, is located on 19th Street, between 11th Avenue and Seeley Street, in Windsor Terrace.

The Friends' fundraising campaign is raising $1500, which the ioby Partnerships for Parks Match Program will match, for a total of $3,000. The fundraising deadline is September 30, 2022, and, as of this moment (8:00 p.m. on 9/25/22), $749 more is needed.

Jaima has already started creating the colorful, bold mural whose goal will be to create "a sense of community spirit, inclusivity and a love for nature."

Donations of all sizes will help purchase supplies and pay the artist. Donate what you can at https://ioby.org/project/froggy-park-mural.

Bennett Paster's Understated Trio
Sunday, September 18th, 4:00 p.m. to 6:00 p.m.

His new trio and set of compositions and their forthcoming recording are the results of his search, resulting in a simpler, more essential expression of jazz; music that is, in a word, Understated.

SAFETY MEETING FOR THE 66TH PRECINCT'S SECTOR D (KENSINGTON)

66th Precinct, Sector D Build the Block Meeting
Thursday, September 15th, 7:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m.

The next Build the Block meeting for the 66th Precinct's Sector D (Kensington) will be held on Thursday, September 15th, from 7:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m.
"These "Build the Block" neighborhood safety meetings are strategy sessions between local police officers and the people they serve. The meetings have two simple goals: identify the public safety challenges of a specific neighborhood and discuss potential solutions."

The Neighborhood Coordination Officers for Sector D are PO Viviane Perrone (Viviane.Perrone@nypd.org) and PO Karol Smiarowski (Karol.Smiarowski@nypd.org), since July 2018.
"Neighborhood Policing is "a comprehensive crime-fighting strategy built on improved communication and collaboration between local police officers and community residents. Neighborhood Policing greatly increases connectivity and engagement with the community without diminishing, and, in fact, improving the NYPD's crime-fighting capabilities.

The same officers work in the same neighborhoods on the same shifts, increasing their familiarity with local residents and local problems."

Find out when a Build the Block meeting is scheduled for your sector by visiting https://www1.nyc.gov/site/nypd/bureaus/patrol/find-your-meeting.page and entering your street address.
