RAPE ATTEMPT IN WINDSOR TERRACE YESTERDAY MORNING

                                                         video courtesy of the NYPD

A man comes up behind a woman in an attempt to rape her. He attempts to lift her dress and pulls at her underwear as he pulls her down to the sidewalk. They struggle. He strikes her repeatedly while she continuously kicks him. He flees.

The attempted rape, shown on a neighbor's surveillance video, took place on the sidewalk in front of 586 16th Street, about halfway between Prospect Park Southwest and 11th Avenue, at about 3:50 a.m. yesterday (Sunday, June 26th).

The attacker is described as a white male in his 20s or 30s. He has curly black hair, is around 5-feet-11-inches tall, weighs about 180 pounds, and was wearing a blue t-shirt and slacks.

"Officials on Monday said they believe that the man lives in the neighborhood and that he may have spotted his victim at a nearby deli minutes before the attack," according to the New York Post.

Anyone with information about the perpetrator or the crime is asked to text 274637 (CRIMES) and then enter TIP577, or send a tip to Crime Stoppers online, or call the NYPD's Crime Stoppers at 1-800-577-TIPS (8477). For Spanish, call 1-888-57-PISTA (74782). All calls are confidential.

WINDSOR TERRACE GREENMARKET MOVES; NO LONGER AT P.S. 154

And then there was one.

In 2012, after the closing of Key Food, Windsor Terrace got its second greenmarket. Residents could shop at the Windsor Terrace-P.S. 154 Greenmarket on 11th Avenue on Sundays and at the Bartel-Prichard Square Greenmarket on Wednesdays.

But as of this past Sunday, June 12th, the Windsor Terrace Greenmarket is gone. Its hours, however, live on at Bartel-Prichard Square.

The Bartel-Prichard continues to be open on Wednesdays, and it's now also open on Sundays. The hours on Sundays are 8:00 a.m. to 3:00 p.m., year-round. The Wednesday hours are 8:00 a.m. to 3:00 p.m., through December 18th.

You can bring food scraps to be composted on Sundays between 8:00 a.m. and 1:00 p.m. Bring textiles for recycling on Sundays too, between 8:00 a.m. and 2:30 p.m.

Purchases can be paid for with cash, EBT/Food Stamps, debit cards, credit cards, WIC Vegetable and Fruit checks, and FMNP checks.

The Bartel-Prichard Square Greenmarket is on Prospect Park West at 15th Street, inside the entrance of the park (map)

FRESH PRODUCE AND FREE OUTDOOR COOKING DEMONSTRATIONS

Kensington Youthmarket
  Saturdays through November 19th, 8:00 a.m. to 4:00 p.m.

A full range of fresh fruit and vegetables is being sold on Saturdays at a greenmarket by the Windsor Terrace Library. Grains and honey are among the items added this year. Everything sold here is fresh, high-quality, and grown on regional small farms.

At the cooking demonstrations, expand your repertoire by learning how to prepare a dish from one or more items being sold there. The demonstrations are given every week from 10:00 a.m. to 2:00 p.m.

Now in its sixth year, the Kensington Youthmarket is a smaller version of New York City's greenmarkets. Through GrowNYC, it's operated by young people from the neighborhood.

In previous years, the youthmarket didn't open until July...so this year, we have an additional month of shopping. It'll be open every Saturday until the Saturday before Thanksgiving.

Cash, EBT cards, debit cards, credit cards, WIC checks, and FMNP checks. are all accepted as payment.

Location: Fort Hamilton Parkway at E. 5th Street, alongside the Windsor Terrace Library
