CULTURES REPRESENTED THROUGH SONG, DANCE, AND MUSIC (FREE)

Bandhan: Festival of Cultures
Saturday, May 13th, 6:30 p.m. to 9:00 p.m.

Bangladesh Institute of Performing Arts (BIPA) will present
Festival of Cultures, featuring singing, dancing, and music that represents a variety of cultures. The performers will be


  • BATALA New York: an all-women Afro-Brazilian samba reggae percussion band,
  • Golden Rooster Ensemble: a Russian children's folk group that sings and dances traditional Russian, Jewish, and Ukrainian music using folk instruments, such as bayan, balalaika, violin, and guitar,
  • Promi & Taj: Bangladeshi singers,
  • The Phoenix Dancers: a Chinese dance group,
  • International Dancer Zaman: a trained Kathak, Orissi, Bollywood, Bhangra, and Chutney dancer (Indian dances), and
  • Bangladesh Institute of Performing Arts: a non-profit social-cultural organization that offers language, dance, music, and instrumental classes.

The festival is free.
