CONVERSATION ON THE SINGLE PAYER HEALTHCARE BILL IN NEW YORK

                          Occupy Kensington General Meeting
                       Sunday, May 7th, 7:30 p.m. to 9:00 p.m.

The New York Health Act (NYHA), if passed by the New York State Assembly and State Senate, will create a universal single payer health plan that provides comprehensive coverage for all residents of New York state.

Every New York resident would be eligible to enroll, regardless of age, income, wealth, employment, or other status.

The Assembly passed the bill in May 2015 and delivered it to the Senate, where it died in January 2016. The process started over again this past February.

Occupy Kensington will have a speaker from Democratic Socialists of America discuss the bill at Sunday's community meeting.

Occupy Kensington will talk about the possibility of playing a role in getting the bill passed in the State Assembly (A4738) and the State Senate (S4840). In the Assembly, it's currently in the Ways and Means Committee, and in the Senate, it's in the Health Committee.

The meeting will be on Sunday, May 7th, from 7:30 p .m. to 9:00 p.m., in a private house at 309 E. 5th Street (just north of Church Avenue), in Kensington.
