"INCREDIBLE INVERTEBRATES": STARS OF THE FIRST POP-UP AUDUBON AT VANDERBILT PLAYGROUND


Pop-Up Audubon: Incredible Invertebrates
Saturdays and Sundays in June, 11:00 a.m. to 4:00 p.m.
                                starting on Saturday, June 4th

Kids and their adults are invited to join the Prospect Park Alliance in examining the park's tiniest creatures. Admission is free. The educational, fun events will include

  • Adventure Hike, noon to 1:00 p.m.: Alliance naturalists will introduce participants to the natural history of Prospect Park and the Park's hidden trails. The hike is not recommended for children under five years old.
  • Nature on the Go!, 1:00 p.m. to 2:00 p.m.: Discover the diverse array of aquatic life by examining the specimens of Prospect Park Lake.
  • Nature's Helpers, 2:00 p.m. to 3:00 p.m.: Learn how mulch protects tree roots, and then spend time spreading wood chips around trees.
  • Family Bird Watching, 3:00 p.m. to 4:00 p.m.: Learn how to use binoculars, and then join naturalists in identifying some of the 250 species of birds that live in Prospect Park.
