SUMMERTIME COMPOSTING HOURS AT COMPOST FOR BROOKLYN (FREE)

Compost for Brooklyn (C4B) is Kensington's community composting project and native plant garden. It accepts the community's residential food scraps for composting, like potato peels, apple cores, coffee grinds, tea leaves, etc. It doesn't accept dairy, meat, bones, woody material, lawn clippings, coconut shells, or "compostable" dinnerware.

The open days and hours during July, August, and September are

  • Thursdays, from 1:00 p.m. to 3:30 p.m., and
  • the 2nd and 4th Saturdays, from 11:00 a.m. to 1:00 p.m., on
    • July 12th and July 26th,
    • August 9th and August 23rd, and
    • September 13th and September 27th.

Volunteers are needed to help out for just two hours per month. To sign up online at VolunteerSpot, send an e-mail to Natalia, the volunteer coordinator, at snucre @ optonline.net. She will then send you the link to Volunteer Spot, along with more details.
