THE WINNERS! THESE NEIGHBORHOOD IMPROVEMENT PROJECTS GOT THE MOST VOTES

The big bucks will go to seven participatory budgeting projects. More than 2200 residents of Councilmember Brad Lander's District 39 participated in the voting process.

After the vote, Councilmember Lander increased the amount he allocated from his budget from $1 million to $1.5 million so he could fund the top seven vote-getters instead of only the top four.

These are the winning projects. The top vote-getter is listed first, the second-highest vote-getter is listed second, etc.

  • Street Safety Improvements on 4th Ave, 8-18th Sts ($300,000)
  • Secure the Future: Laptops at PS 130, 230 & 321 ($195,000)
  • Pedestrian Safety on McDonald Ave at Ft Hamilton ($300,000)
  • Repair and Improve Three Pathways in Prospect Park ($215,000)
  • Raising the (Green) Roof @ Windsor Terrace Library ($250,000)
  • Industrial Shredder for Community Compost Project ($105,000)
  • Outdoor Plaza at John Jay Educational Campus ($150,000)

Three of the projects (laptops, pedestrian safety, and the green roof) focus on Windsor Terrace and Kensington. It pays to vote!
