A FREE TREE FOR YOU

Trees make neighborhoods more beautiful. And they put oxygen in the air. So, reserve a free tree online that you can pick up in Kensington at Compost for Brooklyn. Registration for that location hasn't started yet--keep checking here to see when it begins.

Pick-up day is Sunday, April 6th, from noon to 2:00 p.m. It's part of the MillionTreesNYC Tree Giveaway.

Show up by noon to claim your tree. Unclaimed trees will be given away between 1:00 and 2:00 on a first come, first served basis to whoever shows up. A tree will be considered unclaimed if the person who reserved it hasn't picked it up by 1:00. Trees that nobody reserved will also be given away.

If you have any kind of gardening question, ask the horticultural experts who will be available to advise you.

The trees have to be planted in the ground in front yards, back yards, and community gardens, at community centers, in schoolyards, etc. They can't be planted on streets, in city parks, in planters or containers, or on terraces, balconies, or roofs.

Compost for Brooklyn is located on the corner of Newkirk Avenue and E. 8th Street.
