SNOWSTORM TOMORROW; DRIVING AND WALKING WILL BE HAZARDOUS

The National Weather Service issued a Winter Storm Warning citywide from Thursday, January 2nd, at 6:00 p.m. to Friday, January 3rd, at 1:00 p.m.

The current forecast calls for 6 to 8 inches of snow accompanied by strong winds.

The New York City Office of Emergency Management (OEM) issued a Hazardous Travel Advisory for Thursday and Friday. Sidewalks will be wet and slick. Roadways could quickly turn icy.

CAUTION
Drivers:
  • Drive slowly.
  • Stay informed about the weather and traffic conditions.
  • Use major streets or highways.
  • Know the name and phone number of at least one local towing service.

Pedestrians:
  • Avoid slippery surfaces.
  • Dress in layers.
  • Be alert and be aware of cars around you, especially when you are crossing intersections.

Alternate side parking regulations are suspended citywide tomorrow (Thursday) to facilitate snow preparations. Payment at parking meters will still be required.
