GOONIES COMING TO KWT

"The Goonies"
Sunday, October 13th, 7:30 p.m. to 9:30 p.m.

For the final Family Movie Night of the year, the Friends of Greenwood Playground (FoGP) will show "The Goonies," a movie for young teenagers.

Corrupt developers plan to turn a neighborhood into a golf course--unless someone can raise enough money to prevent it. A neighborhood boy's discovery of a pirate's treasure map leads him and his group of friends (The Goonies) on an adventure-filled search to find the treasure and save their neighborhood.

Steven Spielberg wrote the story, Chris Columbus wrote the screenplay, and Richard Donner directed the movie. The cast includes Sean Astin, Josh Brolin, Jeff Cohen, and Corey Feldman as well as Martha Plimpton, Joe Pantoliano, and Anne Ramsey.

Released in 1985. PG-13 because of cursing and references to sex. 114 minutes (1 hour, 54 minutes).

To make your movie-going experience even more enjoyable, FoGP will be selling popcorn for $1 per bag.

Starting time for the movie is 7:30 p.m. sharp. The audience can start seating itself on the handball courts at 7:00 p,m. The entrance to the area is on E. 5th Street, between Fort Hamilton Parkway and Greenwood Avenue.

Dari Litchman of Friends of Greenwood Playground advises people to "bring sweatshirts, blankets, flashlights, and beach chairs."

The forecast could change by Sunday, so check for weather updates on FoGP's Facebook page, in case the program has to be canceled.
